Event Details

NERL Core member Jesse Koennecke (Cornell University) will join a panel at the American Library Association Meeting in Washington, D.C. ” Novel Collaborations: Pioneering New Models for Library/Vendor Partnerships with FOLIO Library Services Platform Project”

“The FOLIO project, an international effort to develop an open-source Library Services Platform, is blazing new paths in vendor/library partnerships. In many ways, the project is unique in the scope of effort and the coordinated cooperation among organizations with diverse but convergent goals. This panel will explore how the FOLIO project is changing the technology landscape for libraries by providing a truly open and extensible platform, and how our working relationship between not-for-profit and commercial entities can be a model for how future vendor/library partnerships can drive innovation, lower costs, and re-conceive how libraries carry their relevance and worth to their institutions. The presentation will be of interest to a wide range of librarians, administrators and vendors. We will touch on collaborative development of new library technologies, open product management and effective governance of open source projects, library/vendor relationships, and innovative technology-driven library services. ”

Program will be held in the Washington Convention Center, 149 A-B
